Thames Water is to take a giant leap for the industry by supplying NASA with a computer-controlled water recycling system for its manned mission to Mars.

The next spacecraft heading for the red planet is scheduled to lift off in ten years' time, with the actual journey taking two years.

Thames Water will develop and build the lightweight system, which will keep the astronauts alive during the mission.
