British Steel Distribution International, the supply and processing arm of British Steel, has announced it is to implement ERP (enterprise resource planning) software to revamp its order and purchasing system.

The world's third largest steel maker will roll out StreamServe software throughout all its North American and mainland European sites.

David Ficken, IT manager at British Steel Distribution North America, said the software would be used to create invoices, order acknowledgements and purchase orders.

The StreamServe suite is already deployed in two European sites, said Ficken, and has reduced the average invoice from 17 to two pages, saving time and money.
