East Midlands Electricity is axing 700 jobs, in the wake of its acquisition by UK power company Powergen last July.

Powergen will be restructuring the company's electricity distribution business.

The cuts, which represent over ten per cent of the company's workforce, will take place over the next two years and will be voluntary.
